23 may 2022 in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) is a statutory holiday and the last day of the provincial government's mandate requiring masks in elementary and secondary schools. At Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), Newfoundland and Labrador's (NL's) only university and largest post-secondary institution: "Masks will continue to be required indoors in public spaces and common areas, classrooms and laboratories...Students, staff and faculty at Memorial must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved accommodation. This requirement aligns with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Mandatory Vaccination Policy and is subject to change based on changes to the government policy.” In sum, 1G fits vaccinated students with masking and other covid-related health measures still applicable and 2G fits for unvaccinated students, who cannot enter the post-secondary MUN campus because MUN "aligns with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Mandatory Vaccination Policy”.
