On 28 Jan. 2022 the government of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) modifies its province-wide policy to: "General visiting to acute care, treatment facilities, long-term care homes, personal care homes, community care homes, and assisted living facilities will remain restricted ...Residents are not permitted to leave the home/facility unless to attend necessary/urgent medical appointments or for extenuating circumstances which must be approved ... Volunteers, including entertainers and hairdressers are not permitted... All acute care centres, treatment facilities and residential care homes are closed to all visitors with the exception of one support person for each resident/patient...Pastoral care support persons ...may visit for extenuating circumstances, such as end-of-life ...Church services and individual room visits by pastoral care support persons are not permitted.” The restriction in place from 4 Jan. 2022: "support person...paramount to the patient/resident's physical care and mental well-being” removed. Requirement remains since "October 22, 2021, you must be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical exemption in order to access ... Long-term care homes, personal care homes, assisted living facilities, community care homes (visitors only; does not apply to residents living in these settings) Note: Employees, volunteers, contractors, vendors or suppliers of the businesses, organizations or activities where [there must be] proof of vaccination [, since] December 17, 2021 ...[must] be fully vaccinated”. NL's visitor restrictions fit the "2=narrow protection” definition regarding vaccinated visitors and ‘3=extensive protection” regarding unvaccinated visitors. But, note that unvaccinated visitors are banned.
