On 30 August 2021, in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), the provincial government continues to advise: "Wearing a non-medical face mask that covers the nose and mouth is recommended in public indoor settings for everyone ages 5 and over, but is not required.” However, students and staff of Memorial University (MU) represent 4% of the population of NL and have been instructed by university administrators: "As of Monday, Aug. 23 masks will be required on all Memorial campuses in all indoor spaces.” No reference to vaccination status in either NL government mask recommendation or MU mask requirement.
