"Effective March 18, 2020, the Minister of Health and Community Services declared COVID-19 a public health emergency under the Public Health Protection and Promotion Act. While a public health emergency is in effect, the Chief Medical Officer of Health can introduce special measures that they believe are necessary to protect the health of the population. Gatherings are limited to no more than 100 people, when run by a recognized business or organization. Other gatherings are limited to no more than 50 people... Wakes are prohibited. Funerals, burials and weddings are limited to 100 people, including the officiant.
