Yukon's Chief Medical Officer for Health announced on 24th April that from 27th April, the criteria for those tested for Covid-19 would be expanded. Those tested for Covid-19 would include those with one of the covid symptoms (fever, chills, cough, difficulty breathing, a sore throat or hoarse voice, headache, runny nose or nasal congestion, unexplained vomiting or diarrhoea, fatigue or muscle aches, or loss of smell or taste) who had travelled outside Yukon in the past 14 days or had close contact with anyone who has travelled outside Yukon. Even if someone does not have travel history but is symptomatic with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, they can be tested for Covid-19 as well. There will also be greater testing in long-term care facilities and the Whitehorse Emergency Shelter. However, deciding who is tested is ultimately at the health care providers' discretion. They are expected to use their clinical expertise to decide.
